But stop. Look around. All of a sudden you aren't your business anymore. You are them, the big brand. You got carried away in all the excitement and freebies.
In our hair salons, we have 5 core values. They are what we live and die by. But they are our core values. Not theirs. And it's my brand, my shop, my rent, my arse on the line. Not theirs. So why do we pay them money so we can have their product/posters/signage/clothing in our shop? And then be known as a "big brand" shop? Why? Because we are fools.
I recently changed the product range in our hair salons to some new-comers, Pravana & Unite. In the hair salon world, changing your main supplier is apparently a big thing. Salons are know as Redken, Loreal, Schwartzkopf, Goldwell, salons. We used to be a Redken Salon. It's a good brand, quality products, owned by Loreal, so big business. But we are just a small group of salons. But we are Universal Salons. We aren't a salon known for it's brand. We are known because we are Universal.
People come to Universal because of who we are, not what we use. Don't be fooled by big business with all their shiny things and things that bling. Remember you are a business, you are your brand, you have your core values and your beliefs, you are you.
YOU ARE NOT THEM.
